HI, I'M Harriet. the face and hands behind HD Cleaning Services. I clean homes across Dorking, Horsham and Southwater, and I really love what I do.
MY STORY
I didn't set out to become a cleaner. I spent ten years in recruitment, and before that in car sales, always in that fast paced, salesy world that never quite fit me. I felt stuck, if I'm honest, and after three months travelling South East Asia I came home knowing something had to change.
Around that time I'd taken on a part time cleaning job, a few evenings a week, cleaning some estate agent offices in Horsham. I thought it would just top up my income. Instead, I found I actually loved it, and I was good at it too. My boss at the time was brilliant, he let me build my own cleaning business around my job, and bit by bit I reduced my hours until I could go fully self employed. I still think about how lucky I was to have people around me who gave me that space.
WHAT DRIVES ME
I love the feeling of finishing a job and knowing a home is properly transformed. Sparkling, straightened, ready. That moment when a client walks through their front door and just goes "wow", that's what does it for me every time.
I'm known for being thorough. To me, a deep clean means everywhere, skirting boards, blinds, light fittings, behind the sofa, under the bed, the tops of kitchen cupboards nobody thinks to check. I get into all the bits that get missed. Clients tell me their house smells amazing when I've been, that their bed looks like a hotel bed, that I've taken the load off their shoulders. Honestly, that's the best feedback I could ask for.

WHO I WORK WITH
I mostly work with people who are busy, out at work or just juggling a lot, who can keep on top of the day to day but don't have the time or energy for a proper deep clean. Often they've got a bit more space than they know what to do with, larger homes that need real attention, or they've got guests coming and want everything just right before they arrive.
I've moved away from weekly and fortnightly cleaning to focus on one-off deep cleans and monthly cleans instead, this is the work I love most, and where I get to really showcase what I can do.

MY VALUES
Good communication, honesty, and doing exactly what I say I will. That's it, really. I don't negotiate on price, and I won't be made to feel like I'm overcharging. I know I'm not the cheapest, and that's fine by me, because what you're getting is someone who works hard, gets results, and treats your home properly.
outside of work
When I'm not cleaning, you'll find me baking, reading, or out walking in the Surrey Hills. I've got a rescue cat called Millie who's become my calm on stressful days, and my partner Mark and I love getting away camping when the weather's kind to us. Being outside in the fresh air is honestly one of my favourite ways to switch off.
